Veronica Ponce Lamendola was born and raised in Quito, Ecuador. She moved to the United States to study at the University of Connecticut and later earned a Master’s in Early Childhood Education from the Bank Street College of Education. Since completing her education, she has been teaching for the past 19 years with a special focus on early education for children ages one to nine.
Additionally, Veronica co-owned the Green Moon art studio in Rowayton, CT. She created a large range of art programs dedicated to teaching children how to express themselves through a variety of materials. During this time, she also developed a keen sense of business management, mentored staff, and continued to hone her skills as an artist and teacher. She sold the studio in 2015 as she began a new adventure as a first-time mom.
Since becoming a parent, she continues to be in awe of the ever changing and developing mind of a young child. It has further increased her desire to teach and to encourage others to see that children deserve a deep level of respect. Veronica is also committed to creating inspiring environments that children can connect to at their own level. One of her favorite quotes about teaching comes from Maria Montessori, “The greatest sign of success for a teacher is to be able to say, ‘The children are now working as if I did not exist’.”
When Veronica is not working, she and her husband enjoy the company of one very busy boy, a charming little girl, and three mischievous cats. She would like to say that they take long leisurely walks, exploring the world together, but it’s more likely they are running wildly from one activity to the next.
